CONCENTRATION

I strive to create artworks using abstraction and distortion of realism to explore the lasting effects of memories, where the colors symbolize the emotion behind them and the blurred effect focuses more on the feelings and dream-like remnants left from memories. I drew inspiration from the psychological phenomenon of reconstructed memories, where memories can be changed after the fact and distorted into a new, subjective reality. I wanted to replicate that effect in my paintings, that while my view of the moments may be different than in the moment itself, the feelings are still there and still valid. My end goal is to have created a cohesive series of dreamy abstracted oil paintings. I used my own images from important times of my life and abstracted them using various methods.
